I’m an exceptional writer with a little experience in everything from short stories, to articles, to brochures here and there, to press releases, medical reports, and a bunch of other really nifty stuff. In addition to my writing skills, I provide proofreading and editing services ranging from basic content edits to substantive/developmental editing services. My passion for writing started in grade school with creative writing.  I attended the Western Pennsylvania's Young Writer's Institute at the University of Pittsburgh the summer before 6th grade.  It was then that I realized writing was my life.

I attended Washington & Jefferson College where I double majored in English and Psychology with hopes of landing a job in Public Relations after graduation.  I interned in the Office of External Relations at the college where I wrote press releases, magazine articles, interviewed faculty, and created media lists.

When I graduated, however, no opportunities in PR existed, so I accepted a position in disability case management.  In this position I managed short-term disability and worker's compensation claims.  I worked with doctors, HR departments, and claimants to see if individuals were eligible for benefits.  After two years, I accepted a position at BNY Mellon as a Leave Specialist in the Human Resources benefits department.  I managed all leaves of absences for the corporation.  I counseled employees, managers, and HR Business Partners about corporate policies and procedures.  I re-wrote all employee correspondences, and I reviewed and approved or denied FMLA requests.

It was during this time I realized I loved writing not only creatively, but professionally as well.  I applied and was accepted to Chatham University where I recently graduated with my Master's degree in Professional Writing and Rhetoric.

After 6 years with BNY Mellon, they outsourced our department and I was laid off.  I've taken this opportunity to shift my career focus to my passion in life:  writing.

I started Rhetorically Urs Professional Writing Services, a freelance writing company servicing businesses, individuals, and organizations.  I assist them in creating clear, concise documents such as resumes, press releases, brochures, articles, newsletters, white papers, and other information delivery documents.

In this capacity, I also have the fortune of pursuing my simultaneous passion for creative writing as well.  I submit many works for publication, contests, and I also participate in a few writer's circles.

Overall, I'm just a writer, looking to make a difference in this world through words.  I edit, book speaking engagements, and would love to teach and lead writing workshops. I believe there is nothing more powerful and influential than the written word.
